Court renews order to restrain the FG in renaiming UNILAG
Latest Politics Thursday, July 5th, 2012Justice Steven Adah of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikeja, on Wednesday, restated his interim order suspending the renaming of the University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola University, Lagos pending the determination of the motion on notice filed by the students.
At the resumed hearing of the matter, Justice Adah also restated his earlier order that all parties should maintain status quo following the failure by the defence counsel to file their reply to the motion on notice of the students and an oral application made by the counsel for the plaintiffs, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), for a renewal of the June 25, 2012 order.
The judge also ordered that the two suits filed separately by the alumni association and some students of the university challenging the propriety of renaming the institution through a broadcast by President Goodluck Jonathan should be consolidated.
