CPC Okays Aliero for Senate

Former governor of Kebbi State and Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Adamu Aliero,  will now be contesting for the Kebbi central senatorial district seat on the platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), just as the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Malam,  yesterday appointed former Secretary to the State Government (SSG),  Alhaji Rabiu Kamba , as his running mate.

Aliero, whose posters have flooded the Kebbi central senatorial district, had wanted to contest the election on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  until recently when he and his supporters defected to the CPC.

In his withdrawal of contest letter to the state chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Mansuru Shehu, Aliero stated that he was no longer interested to contest the election on the platform of the party and requested for the N3 million he paid for senatorial nomination forms.

He alleged that the PDP lacked internal democracy and that there was no level  playing  ground for him and his supporters to contest any elective position in the party.

Kamba’s nomination was made public by the gubernatorial candidate himself after series of consultations with the CPC leadership and other elders of the State.

Kamba apart from being Governor Saidu Dakingari’s SSG, he was also Commissioner for Inter-Government Relations.

He is a seasoned public servant who served the nation diligently as a senior military officer and voluntarily retired without any blemish in April 2,000.

The former SSG also served his community as Chairman of Dandi Local Government Council from 2003 to 2007.

Kamba has however expressed profound appreciation to the gubernatorial candidate and leaders of CPC for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that he will contribute tremendously towards the success of CPC in the forthcoming general elections.
