Dikko for burial on Friday
Headlines Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014Sympathisers and mourners at the Kaduna residence of second Republic Minister of Transport, Alhaji Umaru Dikko, waited in vain on Wednesday for the arrival of the body the politician, who died in the early hours of Tuesday in London.
A family source had told our correspondent that the corpse of the late minister, who died at age 78, would arrived in Kaduna on Tuesday night and would be buried in Zaria on Wednesday.
Another source in the family, however, told our correspondent that the body Dikko, who was drugged and put in a crate in 1984 by the military regime of Muhammadu Buhari, could not arrive Kaduna due logistic anddiplomatic problems.
The source, who craved anonymity, said, “We earlier made arrangement for his corpse to be conveyed from London to Kaduna but we were later told that we must go through official protocol before the release of the body.
“We have done this and we are now expecting it to arrive in Kaduna between Thursday and Friday for final burial.”
