DSS Abuja Airport head, Adamawa gov and ex gov of Zamfara, all caught violating security and COVID-19 protocols

(NNP) The Head of the Department of State Security at the Abuja Airport, Safiyanu Abba, charged with the maintenance of law and order was engaged in the violation of law by allegedly slapping an aviation security personal for doing his job. According to FAAN, the security agent had attempted to further search a visitor who triggered the alarm, but Abba prevented him from doing so and then assaulted him for attempting to do his job to keep airport users safe.

A tweet sent out by FAAN stated, “This happened on the 17th July at about 15:25 hours. He breached security procedure by obstructing further searching of a visitor who had just walked through the metal detector and activated the alarm.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria strongly condemns this abuse of power and the Security process in our airport. This has also been duly escalated.

“FAAN committed to our core values of safety Security and comfort.”

FAAN further stated that in a separate incident, it had trouble with the Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and his entourage of eight who refused to comply with the COVID-19 protocols upon arrival in Port-Harcourt. They refused the simplest of procedure such as temperature checks, sanitization and blatantly ignored health officials. Even those that came to the airport to receive the governor and his entourage, violated traffic laws by setting aside the barricades and driving up to the terminal against protocol.

FAAN further indicated that former governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, upon arrival refused for health officials to decontaminate his language. He simply walked passed officials in direct violation of health protocols in a global pandemic.

FAAN in the meantime is resolved to addressing these matters to hold public officials accountable to the point that they understand that they ought to lead by example, especially in the era of COVID-19.
