Eagles are beatable – Kenya coach

Kenya coach Francis Kimanzi insists the Super Eagles are beatable when both sides clash next in Group F of African qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup.

The Harambee Stars thrashed Seychelles 4-0 in Nairobi on Tuesday to book a place in the qualifying campaign that will begin in 2012.

Malawi and Namibia are the other teams in the group but Kimazi believes Kenya’s 7-0 aggregate win over Seychelles is a clear indication that the Stars are ready to take on African giants.

Nigeria defeated Kenya home and away to secure the ticket to the 2010 World Cup but Kimanzi hoped this would not repeat itself as they seek their first World Cup ticket.

“We have a young team and we need to work hard to build it. With the new football association office in place, I believe we will be given the opportunity to work on this team and I’m confident that they will deliver the goods,” Kimanzi told cafonline.com.

“We have now qualified to the group stage and must remain focused. Let’s wait until we cross the bridge because every team in the tournament is beatable. We have to keep our heads high and prepare well for the qualifiers. I have hopes that we have the capability of reaching Brazil in 2014.”

Namibia also made a statement with their qualifying by beating Djibouti 8-0 on aggregate to reach the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers.

Malawi, Kenya and Namibia will be featuring in the CECAFA Cup which begins on November 26.
