Former youth international, Olusegun Fetuga, has written off the Lone Stars of Liberia as a threat to the Super Eagles as both sides are drawn to clash in the final qualification round for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
In the draw conducted in South Africa on Thursday, Liberia will host the first leg fixture on the weekend of September 7 to 9 while the return leg fixture holds in Nigeria in October.
Fifteen matches will hold during that period and the winners will be joined by the tournament hosts, South Africa , for the finals scheduled to hold in January 2013.
The Lone Stars fell 2-0 to the Eagles in a friendly played in Monrovia in February and it is based on the result that Fetuga believes Nigeria have nothing to fear in the coming encounter.
“There is no way Nigeria will not be in the Nations Cup finals next year if they play the way they did Liberia in their friendly,” Fetuga said.
“The draw is the easiest we can ever hope for but I’ll advise coach Stephen Keshi and the players not to let their guards down.
“The way I see it, if Keshi features the ambitious players from the domestic league that played the friendly, the Eagles may end up winning home and away.”
Nigeria defeated Rwanda 2-0 on aggregate to advance to this stage, while Liberia overcame Namibia 1-0 on aggregate.
