By Nnamdi Akpa, Abakaliki Ebonyi State Commissioner for Internal Security and Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Stanley Okoro-Emegha, has resigned his position as commissioner. Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Uchenna Orji, who briefed journalists after the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting on Monday, disclosed that Okoro-Emegha’s resignation was approved at the meeting, adding that the move was to enable him to contest the substantive chairmanship position of the party. Orji, who explained that Okoro-Emegha’s resignation took effect from August 31, said the council, however, approved his appointment as security consultant to the state government, effective September 1, 2021. He revealed that Okoro-Emegha would be required to attend all government functions and council meetings, and would liaise with the Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Adviser on Internal Security in running the state security architecture. Orji said the council commended him for his discipline, loyalty, hard work and exemplary service in his previous appointments. -Guardian |
