EFCC recovers N320m for Germans
EFCC Politics, Headlines Tuesday, December 20th, 2011THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday, said that it had recovered about N320 million for Germans, who were swindled by Nigerians, adding that the proceeds had since been returned to the German government.
The acting chairman of the commission, Mr Ibrahim Lamorde, stated this why playing host to the German ambassador to Nigeria, Mrs Dorothee Janatzke Wenzel.
The EFCC boss urged the German government to relocate its African office for the German National Police to Nigeria, adding that Nigeria had the ability to work hand in hand with them.
He further solicited for the support of the German government in carrying out its task of purging the nation of corruption and other vices staining the country’s image, adding that other European countries had also been invited to support the country in its quest to fight corruption.
Earlier, the German ambassador, who was accompanied with the First Secretary, Mr Jens Wagner, commended the EFCC for the good work it had been doing, adding that she was on a visit to the commission to see for herself what the commission was doing and to familiarise with the operations of the anti-graft agency.
Wenzel further reassured Nigeria of Germany’s support to the eradication of crime.
