EGYPT’S coach, Hani Ramzy says it is disrepectful of Austin Eguavoen to rue the absence of Europe based players in the maiden CAF U-23 Championship which starts in Morocco today.
Eguavoen on Thursday told a section of the Moroccan press that the competition might suffer depth in class because it is not within FIFA window, robbing teams of the services of players in big clubs of Europe.
However, Ramsey the former Egypt’s international defender says it is wrong of Eguavoen to express such feelings.
”We don’t have to rely on players from Europe at this level. It is Austin’s position but I don’t think it is not right to think like that, I spent a lot of time in Europe and I can say we can raise a good team for our countries in Africa anytime our players in Europe are not available.”
Ramzy added that Egypt places its hope on home-grown players, saying the successes achieved in 2006, 2008 and 2010 Nations Cups are testimonies.
