Ethiopian Airlines plane failed to descend, flew 37,000 feet above destination airport as pilots reportedly fell asleep
Africa & World Politics, Aviation, Headlines, NNP News Monday, August 29th, 2022(NNP) Two Ethiopian Airlines pilots have been suspended by the Airlines after they reportedly fell asleep and missed their landing destination at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa. According to reports, the plane cruising at 37,000 feet, flew above the airport and continued rather than descending and landing. The control tower at Bole airport made several unsuccessful attempts to communicate with the sleeping pilots. An alarm on the plane woke the pilots who successfully landed the plane 25 minutes later. The incident occurred on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-800 flight number ET 343 en route from Khartoum, Sudan to Addis Ababa. The airlines has stated that it would investigate the incident and take appropriate measures.
