Expose Boko Haram sponsors, ex-ASUU boss charges Jonathan
Boko Haram, Latest Politics Monday, May 14th, 2012Former chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Delta
State University chapter, Professor. Patrick Muoboghare at the weekend called on
President Goodluck Jonathan to take the bull by the horn and unravel the
sponsors of Boko Haram sect.
Muoboghare, a Niger Delta activist,
described the activities of the dreaded sect as “unwholesome,” insisting that
they were targeted at intimidating President Jonathan out of office and ensuring
that he did not contest the 2015 presidential election.
Besides, he
maintained that the Boko Haram activities, the Islamic banking and the argument
for full implementation of sharia in parts of the country were targeted at
making the country ungovernable for the president.
According to the
university don who spoke with newsmen in Asaba, the recurring bombings in parts
of the country was because the president hailed from the South-south region
which other regions had often regarded as an insignificant part of the country
in spite of the fact that the region accounts for over 80 per cent of the
nation’s wealth.
Professor Muobaghare decried the alleged ultimatum issued by
the sect to the president and urged all well-meaning individuals to rise up in
condemning the actions of the Islamic extremists.
He specifically charged
the people of the Niger Delta to resist any act capable of causing disunity and
disharmony, stressing that the unity of Nigerians was most needed at this trying
moment when a son of the soil is the president of the country.
The
activist appealed to governors of the South-south region and other leaders of
thought to maintain a common front on issues of collective interest and join
hands with the president to unravel those sponsoring the murderous sect.
