Fayose dumps Atiku, drums support for Southern president
Headlines, Party Politics, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday, June 30th, 2022
Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose is not supporting the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar for president next year. The PDP stalwart is backing a Southern candidate to be president next year. Fayose tweeted on Wednesday that power must go to the south as the north had rule for two terms under President Muhammadu Buhari. He said what this implied was that power should move to the south next or nothing. ”The current President of Nigeria is a 2-term Northern Presidency, thus implying that it MUST be a Southern Presidency in 2023 or NOTHING. Awa ‘South’ lo kan’. Nigerians should await details soon,” he tweeted. Fayose stated that the PDP constitution provided for rotational presidency, saying that section 3 (c) provided for zoning. He tweeted: “The PDP Constitution provides for a rotational Presidency. Section 3(c) provides that the Party shall pursue its aims & objectives by “adhering to the policy of the rotation & zoning of Party & Public elective offices in pursuance of the principle of equity, justice and fairness.” The former Governor is likely supporting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the APC who used his popular slogan, “Awa lo kan.” |
