FG tackling insecurity with communal efforts –Sambo

Vice-President Namadi Sambo has said apart from the efforts by security agencies to tackle insecurity in the country, the Federal Government is also adopting what ‘community efforts and cooperation.’

A statement by his spokesman, Umar Sanni, on Saturday quoted Sambo as saying this during a dinner in honour of the VP at the Nigerian High Commission in Canada, Toronto.

Sambo said the security challenge in the country would soon be surmounted going by the efforts being out in place by the government.

“While speaking on the security challenge the country was facing, the vice-president assured the people that it was being tackled in a matured manner and that very soon, those challenges will be surmounted because apart from the efforts by the security agencies, community efforts and cooperation are beiing utilised,” the statement read.

The vice-president said Nigeria’s frontiers were open to accommodate all investment drives but most importantly in the power, transport, health, education, agriculture, mining, information and communication technology, security and good governance sectors of the economy.

He called on investors to come over to Nigeria because the investment climate would be beneficial to them.

Sambo earlier in another forum, said the stability of government was the attraction for foreign investors.

He noted the positive contributions of Canada to Nigeria’s successful democratic journey.

“It is pertinent to note that Nigeria and Canada enjoy excellent bilateral relations at all levels. By signing the Bi- National commission agreement on April 23, 2012, a new chapter of mutually strategic relations was also established, making Nigeria, Canada’s largest trading partner with a trade volume of over $3bn in the sub Saharan Africa,” he said.

Present at the event were the governors of Abia, Rivers, Gombe, Bauchi, Plateau, Ogun, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom and some ministers. About 100 chief executives of private firms from both countries were also present.wp_posts
