FIFA ranking: Eagles move one step up
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Thursday, March 3rd, 2016Nigeria has moved up one place in the latest Fifa rankings released on Thursday, March 3. Super Eagles are ranked 62nd in the world and 11th in Africa. The three-time African champions occupied the 63rd spot in the world and 12th in Africa for the month of January. In Africa, Cape Verde are on top of the ladder and 31st in the world while Ivory Coast are second in Africa and 36 in the world and Algeria third and 37th in the world.
Other top-ranked Africans in that order are Ghana (41), Tunisia (47), Senegal (48), Egypt (53), Congo DR (58), Republic of Congo (59), Cameroon (61) and Nigeria (62) respectively. Nigeria’s next opponent are Egypt who the Super Eagles will battle in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) double header first on Friday, March 25 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna and later on Tuesday, March 29 in Alexandria, Egypt.
In the world Belgium are still dictating the pace as the world’s best football nation while Argentina, Spain, Germany, Chile, Brazil and Portugal followed in that order. The trio of Colombia, England and Austria completed the top best 10 teams in the world.
