Gunmen shoot Enugu lawmaker, Nelson Sylvester, popularly known as Ofunwa, dead

The lawmaker representing Eha-Ulo ward in Nsukka Local Government Area Legislative Council, Enugu State, Nelson Sylvester, popularly known as Ofunwa, has been killed.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Monday morning revealed that Sylvester was shot dead by some unknown gunmen on Sunday night at his residence in Eha-Alumonah.

A source who confided in Daily Post on condition of anonymity said the assailants stormed the lawmaker’s house and started raining bullets on him.

He added that the Councilor ran into a neighbouring compound, where his lifeless body was found later.

The source described the suspected assassination as one too many, adding that “it is heartbreaking; it is too hard for us to swallow. We are in deep agony.”

The incident is said to have sparked tension in the town and other neighbouring communities.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, told reports that he is not disposed to answer calls at the time, Daily Post claimed.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State command, has commenced an investigation into the killing of a man at a Lagos nightclub, allegedly by Trevboi, a former signee of Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido.

Naija News understands that a netizen [@cloud_target] earlier took to his Twitter page to declare Trevboi wanted, alleging that his friend was killed on Saturday in Bar 38 club, Fadeyi area of Lagos.

Tagging the Twitter handle of the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, the netizen further disclosed that Trevboi is presently armed and dangerous to be encountered.

Reacting, Hundeyin said the police command has since launched an investigation into the incident.

Hundeyin confirmed that the suspect abandoned his car and fled on foot.

He wrote, “We commenced investigation minutes after the incident happened. The suspect abandoned his car and fled on foot. The car and the documents in it are in our custody.

“Investigation is ongoing.”
