How Nigerians reacted to Tinubu’s declaration of interest for 2023 presidency

Nigerians have expressed mixed reactions to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s declaration of interest to vie for the 2023 presidency.

Tinubu, on Monday told newsmen that he had told President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to contest the 2023 presidency.

Reactions have been pouring in since he made his interest known. Many have expressed disgust, while others supported his ambition on social media.

A Facebook user, OgooJesus Geoffrey said “You’re no longer healthy and strong to run the affairs of Nigeria, even when you have retired from handling your personal business, you want to contest for president so that the same presidency will continue running the country and keep borrowing until the future of 20th generation is mortgaged. Fear God a little.”

Nwaokenneya Peter reacted: “Oga you better go and sit down and stop wasting your time, Nigeria no longer need old and sick people like you. We need a young dynamic and vibrant President that will be active enough to tackle Nigerian problems. We are tired of sick people ruling us.”

As for Youngest Dickson, “Oga Tinubu no need to inform we de youths. We don’t need it. Kindly keep your intentions to yourself. If you are supposed to be a civil servant, aren’t you supposed be in your pension…70yrs old man.”

Yomi Oludimu supported Tinubu’s presidential ambition, saying “Mad people would use vile mouths to caricature such a great candidate!”

“Victory is the name of the King,” a Facebook user by the name Majesty’s King said.

Prince Horlawoyin Yusuf Ado said “Jagaban said and I quote .”me I want to pursue my ambition…. In your mandate Bola, On your mandate, We shall stand …..”

As for Fredrick Preye, “Anything is possible in Nigeria. I will not waste my time. Let’s just hope for rapture to take place. Nigeria situation alone is enough for Jesus to come back.”

Yuxuph Oladimeji said: “More than qualify, we are ready to support your mandate sir anybody wey no like u …. Make them present their father.”

Loveth Nkasi reacted: You people should leave our country for us , the youth are capable of handling the affairs of this Nation.”

“Are we even cursed by having deteriorated brain leaders? Tinubu is just the opposite of Buhari. And that is fifteen times moving backward,” Eweola Ayodele reacted.

Alozie B Alozie said: “Tinubu is more intelligent, innovative and accommodating than Buhari, but the issue is that age isn’t on his side. if he’s got the interest of Nigeria at heart, he should quit active politics & support a younger & vibrant person

“Nigerian leaders keep praising late Nelson Mandela but none of them can make the kind of sacrifices he made, he just led South Africa for a single tenure & retired from active politics till he died.

“Nigerian leaders irrespective of their political parties, tribe and religion have nothing to show after many years of independence. Each election year, they make empty promises yet once they win, they start blaming their predecessors.”

In his reaction, Nsima Ekong, stated that “IBB didn’t build Aso Rock as old people’s home. Stay at your Bourdillon road house. We don’t need another medical tourist president.”

Ayantoye Tajudeen was elated that Tinubu signified his interest for the presidency, saying: “So come and join the moving train be part of history.”

Shally Roy Ajoro simply said: “Wow see my President,” while Hormoba Olofinyokun Abdul-rasaq added: “Always for you mentor.”

Tunde Kusimo said: “JAGABAN of Africa, election isn’t run on social media; it is on d field, solidly behind you, a visionary leader, time will tell, put up your thinking cap.”

Bestman Nwovueze added: “If this happen I will change my nationality. Affliction shall not rise for the second time.

We love all our fathers but please can we give youths a chance?”

Alfred Imbeah stated: “I’m sorry for Nigeria if such a person wants to lead such a great nation. We trying to get rid of these old ancestors in Africa from the political scene. As if Buhari hasn’t done enough damage. He wanna come compound afflictions of the youth????????. Jah will never give a power to a Baldhead, run com crucify little dread. Time alone, time will tell.”

Kelcy Ogwutum said: “We reject you in Jesus name!!! Not again!! We do not want someone like you!. Go and rest oga.”

Mfon Ifeanyichukwu said: “Sir l beg you in the name of this God of heaven, have mercy on Nigerians, pity us for God sake, we have suffer enough ,even your tribes have suffer, you brought this man bubu and you have seen the result, please baba we don’t need grand pa again, enough of this if.

It is a course for grand pa to be president in Nigeria l stand.in Jesus name and break it, please with due respect go and sit down, we need vibrant youth that fear God. Biko!”
