I inherited only 1 X-ray machine in Kebbi – Dakingari

KEBBI State governor,Alhaji Saidu Dakingari, has disclosed that he met one functional X-ray machine in the whole of the state, which could be found in Argungu General Hospital, when he assumed office on May 29, 2007.

According to him, all the general hospitals in the state now had at least two X-ray machines, including mobile X-ray machines, saying that more had been ordered to meet the needs of the people.

Governor Dakingari made the assertion while receiving a medical team, non-governmental organisation,  CEDIO Medical, in Government House, Birnin Kebbi.  He  said Kebbi as of today had been transformed for better.

He disclosed further that, “the state had a different story to tell and we thank God that each of our hospitals has functional and modern ambulances. Even the uncompleted hospitals and the upgraded ones have been allocated ambulances.”

Dakingari maintained that Kebbi State was not indebted to any contractor or bank, neither did it secure any loan, saying the state was not owing a kobo.

“We have executed all our projects without taking a loan and had equally paid for the job done to the last kobo,” he said.

He stated that if corruption could be controlled, government would have funds to execute more projects for the benefit of the people, disclosing that for prudent management, the state adopted e-payment system which “has paid off as we have a better financial data system.”

Governor Dakingari said, the state would continue to play its part in the provision of all essential amenities for the people, while it also would be ready to associate with all NGOs who have good offers for the people and commended CEDIO members for rendering less services to the people in the state.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the medical team, Mrs Ify Okatihi, commended the state government for the monumental achievements recorded in the state,  saying, “other state governments ought to emulate Kebbi State health care programme, which was the best in the country.”
