Igboho floors DSS, court awards N20B damages
Latest Politics Friday, September 17th, 2021A High Court in Oyo State has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to pay N20 billion to Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.
The ruling by Justice Ladiran Akintola came in a suit filed by Chief Yomi Alliyu, the lawyer of the Yoruba nation agitator.
He had prayed the court to order the DSS pay N500 billion damages for the invasion of Igboho’s Soka residence in Ibadan on 1 July.
The court held that the invasion of the Yoruba nation agitator’s home was illegal.
Justice Ladiran rebuffed the DSS for acting based on what he described as “arbitrary aggression and prejudices” from Igboho’s agitation for Yoruba nation.
Igboho’s lawyer, Alliyu in a post on Fcaebook said of the judgment:
“What a good day for democracy and the rule of law! We won =N=20 billion aggravated damages for our client in CHIEF SUNDAY ADEYEMO A.K.A IGBOHO OOSA v. AGF & ORS !”
