Jonathan demands explanation for death
Goodluck Jonathan (2010-present), Headlines, Presidency Friday, January 7th, 2011Worried by the spate of violence and killings in the country, the Governor of Niger state, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, has tasked Nigerians over their personal security, saying “there is need for everybody to be security conscious.”
He also disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan called him on the phone, demanding explanations for the circumstances that led to the death of a member of the Peoples Democratic Party at Edati Local Government Area of the state during the concluded House of Assembly elections.
Aliyu spoke in Government House, Minna, Niger State, while inaugurating sale of poppies for the 2011 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration.
The governor who spoke against the backdrop of several coordinated bomb blasts that rocked Jos, Plateau State and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, said people should monitor their environment and report suspicious movements to responsible security agencies.
He said the days of taking things for granted were over insisting that the new development in the country called for vigilance.
