Barely 24 hours after he was declared winner of the 2011 presidential election, President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday suspended the Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho (retd.).
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ima Niboro, said Iheanacho‘s ‘personal and official conduct‘ had led to lapses in the political leadership of the ministry.
Iheanacho‘s suspension is with immediate effect, according to the statement.
Jonathan directed Iheanacho to hand over to the Labour Minister, Mr. Emeka Wogu, who will oversee the ministry of interior, alongside his original portfolio.
