Keshi, Kenyan coach in meeting in Cairo
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Friday, May 17th, 2013Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi met and had discussions with his Kenyan counterpart Adel Amrouche, futaa.com can reveal.
Both sides met during the CAF-organised seminar recently concluded in Cairo.
An elated Amrouche said he took the chance in Cairo to meet with Keshi and other ‘big’ coaches from whom he is getting vital tips that he can come with back to Kenya.
Nigeria Coach Stephen Keshi, former Liverpool, Lyon and Aston Villa Coach Gérard Houllier were some of the coaches he associated with at the cairo event.
“We are Kenyan and we like fair play,” Amrouche said when queried on meeting Keshi whose Super Eagles denied him his first win in his first game in charge of Kenya in March in Calabar during a third round World Cup qualifier.
Nigeria scored late to cancel out an early Francis Kahata goal to tie the game 1-1.
“Stephen is a gentleman and he respects me so much not just because of Calabar. Before he had watched Burundi play. He supports all African coaches like me.”
The review of the AFCON was open to all the coaches whose teams participated in the 2012 and 2013 editions as well as Technical Directors from CAF Member Associations. The Chief guest was FIFA’s Coach of the Year Vicente del Bosque, the boss of Spain.
Nigeria and Kenya will clash in the second leg of the 2014 World Cup qualifier in Nairobi on June 7.wp_posts
