Keshi plots Rwanda’s downfall

Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ chief coach, Stephen Keshi, says he is leaving no stone unturned as Nigeria prepares for the February 29 clash with the Wasps of Rwanda in a 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifier.

Keshi revealed the tapes of recent matches of Rwanda have been useful to the technical crew.

”It is a nice idea we are studying the tapes, it is an insight to the strength and character of the Rwandan team.”

Keshi as a player with the Super Eagles and as a coach with Togo and Mali has never confronted Rwanda but expressed the view that doing a proper homework would go a long way in helping the crew get the best result in the two-legged encounter.

Keshi also proposed that the Eagles train in either Kenya or Tanzania a week to the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier in Rwanda.

The Super Eagles could either fly into high-altitude Kigali a day to the February 29 clash against Rwanda or set up a training site in a neighbouring country with similar weather conditions.

“We are looking at the possibility of training in a country with similar weather conditions to Kigali. For now, Nairobi in Kenya and Dar es Salam in Tanzania are under consideration,” disclosed Keshi.

Nigeria foreign-based pros would then join up with a small squad of players from the domestic league at the Eagles training camp.

The Eagles coach said he plans to win both home and away matches in order to qualify for the next round of the qualifying tournament for the 2013 Nations Cup to be hosted by South Africa.

Keshi has already received recent videos of Rwanda, which he is studying with his backroom staff.

Nigeria last clashed with Rwanda in the qualifying series for the 2006 World Cup.

The Eagles won the first game in Abuja 2-0 before they forced their hosts to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.
