Madagascar says it has found the cure for COVID-19 – President slams WHO for not endorsing the cure
Africa & World Politics, COVID-19, Headlines, Health Monday, May 11th, 2020(NNP) The island nation of Madagascar on the Indian Ocean has stated that it has found the cure for the coronavirus that is currently ravaging the world with well over 280,000 deaths. In April, the president of the country, Andry Rajoelina, launched COVID-Oragnics which is an organic herbal concoction with the claim that it can cure COVID-19 patients within seven days. The president on April 20, drank a bottle of the cure in the presence of media while emphasizing that the cure was found in his country. He used the opportunity to slam WHO saying if the cure was to have been found in Europe, WHO will endorse it without much doubt. His words –
“If it were a European country which had discovered this remedy, would there be so many doubts. The problem is that it comes from Africa. And they cannot accept that a country like Madagascar, which is one of the poorest countries in the world, has discovered this formula to save the world.”
The president stated that the recovery of 105 patients is due to their treatment with the remedy. He stated – “A marked improvement was observed in the health of the patients who received this remedy just 24 hours after they took the first dose. The cure was noted after seven days, even ten days. This remedy is natural and non-toxic.”
In the meantime, African countries are not waiting for WHO’s endorsement of the cure as they have received hundreds of doses from Madagascar with intent to use it to treat their COVID-19 patients. The African Union has reached out to the country’s government to request technical data to verify its safety.
