Man 20, convicted of stealing four generators

An Area Court in Karmo, Abuja on Thursday sentenced a 20-year old man, Salisu Mohammed, to two months imprisonment for stealing four generators.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Simon Emmanuel, said the suspect committed the offence of conspiracy and theft contrary to Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.
He said that on November 25, one Prince Adewale of Kado Village, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station.
The prosecutor told the court that on November 24, the convict, who resides at Kado, along with others now at large went to a house at Angwan Cement Village, Abuja, and stole two Sumec generators, one Jeling generator and one Tec set.
Emmanuel said that during police investigation, the stolen items were recovered from the convict.
Mohammed pleaded guilty to the charges and the prosecutor prayed the court to try him summarily and to release the recovered items to the complainant.
The judge, Abdul Mohammed, sentenced the suspect to two months imprisonment but gave him an option of N2,000 fine.
He also ordered that the recovered items should be released to the complainant.
