Man, 45, arrested for defiling six-year-old

A 45-year-old man identified as Godwill Williams was on Thursday paraded by the Bayelsa State Police command for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.

Also paraded were two suspected cultists accused of being the brains behind past killings in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Chris Olakpe, also paraded an alleged drug peddler and his wife, who hid a substance suspected to be cocaine in her private part when the police stormed their home to conduct a search.

Olakpe said all the suspects would be made to face the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

He said, “We are here to parade suspects whose activities when narrated are so bizarre and even stronger than fiction. We have with us today one Godwill Williams aged 45, who raped a six-year-old girl.

“We also have members of the Greenlander, who have been wreaking havoc in the state, killing people with machetes, beheading them and even using guns.

“The suspects, Kingsley Wilcox and Ebipere Wilson, were found in possession of a locally-made pistol and have confessed to being members of the Greenlander and Bobo confraternity, who we know are responsible for causing the deaths of innocent Nigerians and Bayelsans.”

Olakpe said the suspected drug peddler, Mr. Godwill Oweika, just regained freedom after serving a two-year prison sentence.

He wondered why the suspect, after serving the sentence, still resorted to drug peddling and inflicting emotional stress on youths by inducing them to commit crime.

He warned criminals to stay away from the state, just as he advised parents to monitor their children and keep them away from criminals.
