Man lands in court after biting off neighbour’s finger
Headlines Thursday, July 2nd, 2015A 34-year-old man, Omepa Dickson, was, on Thursday, arraigned in a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court in Nasarawa State for allegedly biting off a neighbour’s finger.
The accused, who resides at Kabayi, Mararaba, is facing a charge of causing grievous hurt.
The prosecutor, Corporal Friday Adaji, told the court that one Adejo Simon of the same address with the accused lodged a complaint against the accused at the ‘A’ Division Police Station.
Adaji said on June 29, at about 8.00 a.m. while the complainant was going to the bathroom to take his bath, the accused sat in front of his room and mocked the complainant.
“The accused sat in front of his room mocking the complainant and calling him a fake police officer.
“When the complainant confronted him, it led to a fight and in the process, the accused caused bodily injury to Simon by biting off his finger,” he said.
The prosecutor added that the complainant was in the hospital receiving treatment.
Adaji noted that the offence contravened Section 241 of the Penal Code.
The accused denied the charge leveled against him, while the trial judge, Albert Maga, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till July 7 for further hearing.
