MASSOB takes over Ojukwu’s country home

Members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Soveriegn State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday stormed Ojukwu’s countryhome and took over the running of the premises.

Leading a delegation sent by MASSOB leader, Comarade Uche Madu, the national Director of Information, told Daily Sun that they were at the Ikemba’s residence on the instruction of their leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.

Madu said that the team was only protecting the interest of the family of the late Ikemba. According to him, “Uwazurike sent us to come and commiserate with the family down here , also to open a condolence register tomorrow so that all Igbos and friends of our dead leader may come and pay him his last respects. You know that Ojukwu is the symbol of our struggle; this is what we are supposed to do for him.

“We believe Uwazurike must have notified the family, but the intention is to make this place look better and lively and receive people, because the immediate family cannot do everything so, other organizations close to Ojukwu should do what they can to help. Right now, we are waiting for confirmation from his son to his father’s  Personal Assistant so that we can take over”.

Madu said that it is not yet clear when the Ikemba will be buried, pointed out that MASSOB will surely honour him in an outstanding fashion. Mr Emeka Ojukwu (Jnr) who was out of the country at the moment is yet to approve the MASSOB team’s stay by Press time.
