Mikel Now Born Again
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Friday, September 28th, 2012SUPER Eagles’ head coach, Stephen Keshi, says he includes Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi in his 38-man list for the decisive Nations Cup second leg qualifier against the Lone Star of Liberia because the player is prepared to defend the national colour.
Mikel has never played for Nigeria under Stephen Keshi due to one excuse or the other. Now Keshi believes the player is ready to debut under him.
”We had discussion on phone on three occasions and he sounded ready and determined,” Keshi said in Abuja.
”From the tone I could see he has no excuse and will be available for the Liberian game.”
Keshi said it was not in his character to beg players for national duty.
”I’ve led this team as a captain and I have coached the team. You can get the best out of the players but you don’t need to beg them.”
