Mikel’s father’s abductors make contact with family, car found
Headlines Wednesday, August 17th, 2011Abductors of Michael Obi, father of Chelsea star John Mikel Obi, have
contacted the family according to news reports.
“They called mummy (Mikel’s mother) and told her that we should not bother
looking for Daddy in Jos because he has been taken to Lagos,” a family source
informed KickOffNigeria.com.
Similarly, Tony Obi, the eldest of the Obi children, confirmed that the car of the
Obi senior was found in Jos, but declined to say where.
His words “Yes, we have found the car, I can’t say anything more for now.”
Mikel Obi’s father, a retired civil servants who runs a transportation business in
Jos was kidnapped Friday evening and no one knows his where about.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Dipo Ayeni,
has urged members of the public to be vigilant and contact the police for any
useful information that could lead to the arrest of kidnappers of Mr Michael Obi.
“We are seriously on the lookout for Mr. Michael Obi. We appeal to anyone
with useful information on his whereabouts to contact the security agencies,”
Ayeni declared . Both Police and family members have not confirmed if the
kidnappers have demanded any ransom.
Mikel Obi, Chelsea star player, on Monday appealed to the kidnappers of his
father asking them to free him.
