N15bn fraud: Ex-gov, 6 others for fresh trial -Court
EFCC Politics, Governors Wednesday, October 24th, 2012FORMER Nasarawa State governor, Aliyu Akwe Doma and six others listed in an alleged N15 billion money laundering charge would have their trial starting afresh, starting with fresh arraignment, a Federal High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, said this on Wednesday.
The de novo trial order was consequent upon the transfer of the trial judge, Justice Marcel Awoku-lehin, with the new trial judge, Justice Agatha Anulika Okeke, directing that the trial must start from the beginning again, “as is the usual practice in criminal matters when a new judge is taking over.”
A statement issued by the commission in Abuja said “Justice Okeke has fixed November 19 for the arraignment of Doma and six others being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).”
