NDDC Commissioner, Ogbemudia Condole Enahoros

The Commissioner on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) from Edo State, Mr. Don Omorodion has sympathized with the family of late Nationalist, Chief Anthony Enahoro, describing the Elderstatesman as a fighter even at old age.
Speaking to members of the Enahoro family, when he led officials of the NDDC to pay a condolence visit, Mr. Omorodion noted that even at old age, Chief Enahoro was still criss crossing the country and abroad in NADECO.
“They fought for the republic we are enjoying today”, he added.
The NDDC Commissioner said they were with the family to celebrate a man who most people learnt of in Social Studies Books.
According to him, it is an occasion “we sympathise with the family who he left behind and he prayed God to give the widow and children, the fortitude to bear the loss”.
The widow, Mrs. Helen Enahoro thanked the NDDC delegation for their condolence visit, saying that they are consoled with the fact that at 87 years, which he died, it was a lot considering what he went through right from the age of 21 years.
Other members of the delegation are Mr. Romanus Wohiren, Special Assistant to the Edo State Commissioner and Dr. Patrick Iguodalor.
In a related development, two-time Governor of old Mid West State, Brigedier –Gen. S.O. Ogbemudia (Rtd) has commiserated with the family of elder states man for the death of their father, a leader and Nigeria’s foremost nationalist, Chief Anthony Eromosele Enahoro.
A condolence letter by Dr. S.O. Ogbemudia addressed to the Eldest son of Pa Enahoro, Ken, reads: “About a month ago when I heard that Chief Enahoro was indisposed and admitted at the UBTH, I prayed for his recovery as well as an additional life of buoyant and physical health to nourish his tremendous mental puergy, with which he has served his country.
For upwards of three decades, since 1951, Chief Enahoro joined the Action group founded that year by the late great leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Enahoro remained a recurring factor and constant decimal in the political equation of Western Region, Midwest, Bendel and Nigeria as a whole. Indeed, he was also an Africanist and an international personality whose activities and writings in Ghana under Sagyefor, Dr. Kwame Khrumah and in London reverberated across Africa and the whole of the World”.
“If Chief Enahoro was with you, he would be a most worthy ally. If he is against you he would be a formidable opposition. His political sagacity was exemplary and his service to Nigeria, in and outside government, was selfless. He maintained these virtues through to the very last day”.
“This is the man we have just lost. It is an irreparable loss to Nigeria especially at this time that people of his class and caliber are in very short supply. But our loss is heaven’s gain. That is why we pray Almighty God to please, give us succour and comfort us at the moment of grief. Above all, we pray for him to give us men for our country and World. Men who will put first and self last, men who will lead us upright to the glory of God and to the benefit of humanity. It is when this happens that our brother and leader, Chief Anthony Eromonsele Enahoro will rest peacefully, blissfully and eternally”.wp_posts
