NDLEA director passes on

THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has lost its Director of Technical Services, Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN), Mr. Adesola Abiodun. He died on Tuesday in a Lagos hospital shortly after close of work.

Saddened by the sudden demise of the newly promoted director, the Chairman/Chief Executive of the agency, Ahmadu Giade, described his death as shocking and painful.

Giade said the agency had lost one of its best officers who was versed in both administrative and operational affairs.

In his tribute, the NDLEA boss said: “We are deeply shocked by the sad incident. He was an articulate and seasoned journalist with a rare gift of the gab and a commander versed in both administrative and operational affairs”.

Abiodun joined the NDLEA on July 25, 1990, as an information officer. As a pioneer worker, he rose to become the chief press officer and later held several managerial positions before becoming a director.

He was commander in charge of Benue, Ogun and Lagos State Commands of the agency. He also had a good working experience in the print media having worked with the defunct Concord Press of Nigeria Ltd., Punch Nigeria Ltd., and the Nigerian Economist before joining the agency.

Born on May 24, 1957 in Lagos, Abiodun hailed from Ibadan, Oyo State. He attended St. Patrick’s Primary School, Lagos, from January 1963 to December 1970.

In 1970, he gained admission into Anwar-Ul-Islam College, Agege, Lagos and completed his secondary education at CMS Grammar School Bariga, Lagos in 1978.

He later proceeded to The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where he had his Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication in 1982.

He was also had his Advance Journalism degree at Thomson Foundation Centre, Regent’s College, London.
