New Nigerian Politics (NNP) Statement on Lekki Shootings and #EndSARS Protests
#Endsars, Headlines, NNP News Tuesday, October 27th, 2020New Nigerian Politics (NNP) Statement on Lekki Shootings and #EndSARS Protests
New Nigerian Politics (NNP) is a news outlet designed to inform Nigerians and the wider global community on trending news and events about Nigeria. The media platform has taken a non-partisan approach to reporting the news to allow its vast audience to interpret the news according to their understanding and experience.
However, the events of the last few weeks in Nigeria have compelled NNP to issue this statement to condemn in no uncertain terms the killing of innocent and unarmed protesters exercising their constitutional rights PEACEFULLY on October 20, 2020 at the Lekki Toll Gate. This action by security forces is totally and completely unacceptable. We call on the authorities to institute a thorough investigation (and hold accountable the perpetrators) of the events of that night that led to the shooting of young and innocent protesters.
NNP also lends its unreserved support to the #EndSARS peaceful protests for police reforms and the improvement of the welfare of youths. It is the position of this media outlet that a country that does not invest in its citizens, especially the youth, will not compete, neither will it be assured of a bright and innovative future.
In line with its name, NNP hopes and prays for a new brand of politics to prevail, one that embraces principled leadership across the board and a fervent thirst for accountability and social justice for all Nigerians. It is only through collective and all-inclusive efforts can we overcome these trying moments as a country.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
