The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says it had no pre-knowledge about the movement of Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, to Chinese Club, Dalian Quanjian, but stated that it had nothing against the move.

The African Footballer of the Year award holder left Women’s Super League One club, Arsenal Ladies of England to join the Chinese Club earlier this week.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, the chairman Technical Committee of the NFF, Chris Green said the Federation does not know how and why Oshoala decided to part ways with the English club, saying: “We may not know why she went there. Oshoala has her manager and people working around her. At this level, the players do things on their own. But as I said, we don’t have a pre-knowledge about her movement to China.”
Speaking further, the NFF Technical Committee boss said: “I kwon that the game of women football is also strong in China, but I don’t really know much about the strength of their league. What we can only say now is to wish Oshoala the best of luck in China.”

Some Nigerians, who reacted to the news of Oshoala’s movement to the Far East country, have cautioned the player not to fall into the temptation of ‘big money’ at the early stage of her football career.

“Money is not everything in life, and I didn’t expect a player as young as Oshoala to join the train to China now,” a football analyst, Osita said on a radio programme in Lagos yesterday.

The 22-year-old Oshoala won BBC’s Women’s Footballer of the Year Award in 2015 before joining Arsenal from Liverpool. She helped the Gunners win the Women’s FA Cup at Wembley in May last year before helping the Falcons win the 10th African Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroun. She was the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Oshoala was also part of Super Falcons to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.wp_posts
