Nigeria police to probe armed officers escorting actress Angela Okorie while she goes jogging in a viral video

The Nigeria Police force has initiated an investigation into a viral video featuring actress Angela Okorie being escorted by armed officers while jogging.

Recently, a video showing Angela Okorie jogging in a public area while being accompanied by police officers has gained significant attention online.

However, the spotlight swiftly shifted from the actress to the police men diligently escorting her.

In a statement posted on Wednesday, on its official X handle, the force, through its spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, expressed strong disapproval, stating that the officers’ actions are inconsistent with professional standards and decorum of its personnel.

Adejobi stated that the police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the video, and appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken based on the review findings.

The incident, which has sparked widespread public attention and criticism, appears to be from the behind the scenes of “Queens of Guns”, a project Okorie began promoting recently. The actress has not publicly commented on the controversy.

The statement reads, “The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged—an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.

“The incident, which appears to have occurred on or around a movie set, has also sparked widespread public concern and criticism.

“While it remains unclear whether the scene was part of a scripted production, the conduct of the officers seen in the video falls short of the standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force.

“Accordingly, necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video, while appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review.”
