Nigeria vs Argentina: We want to end Argentina’s domination – Taiwo

Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo has described the international friendly between Nigeria and the Albiceleste of Argentina in Abuja on June 1 as a high profile match which he believes will be a one to end Argentina’s domination over the Eagles at the senior level.

Taiwo said the match will be another tool to set the Super Eagles on their heels ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa the same week after the Argentina match.

The former Olympic Marseille of France defender hinted that he and his team-mates will do everything to break the Argentine jinx when they file out against the South Americans, adding that the presence of Lionel Messi, Javier Macherano and others will not make any difference saying he has played against Messi thrice, first in the final of the World Youth championship in Holland 2005, second at the final of the Beijing Olympic football game in China while third time was at the last World Cup in South Africa.

“The match against the Argentines is a Grade ‘A’ match and we are going to use the match as well to prepare ourselves for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier slated for Ethiopia the same week of the international friendly.

“That encounter will also be used to end the domination of Argentina over Nigeria at the senior level. We are battle ready, we will not take it for granted and we will not disappoint Nigerians who are solidly behind us, ” he assured.

According to the AC Milan new signing, the Ethiopia match is important and it will be taken with all seriousness, pointing out that any thing to be corrected before the Nations Cup qualifier must be done after the match against Argentina because the ticket to the Nations Cup is more important.

Meanwhile, Warri Wolves striker, Ekigho Ehiosun has also described his invitation to be part of the international friendly against Argentina as a thing of joy which he will definitely make use of to establish his national team stay.

Ehiosun, a Chemical Engineering graduate said playing against Argentina means a lot to him, adding that he is also looking forward to finding the back of the net in that high profile match in Abuja.

“It is a thing of joy to be invited by coach Samson Siasia to be among the players to play two-time world champions, Argentina in an international friendly which will propel the Eagles for the Nations Cup qualifier in Addis Ababa same week.

“I will make use of this opportunity to establish my stay in the national team because my invitation was based on hard work and sincerity which I will like to prove when the Eagles file out against Argentina,” he said.
