Nigerian, Adebiyi, shot dead in London

A 25-year-old Nigerian, Sadiq Adebiyi, has been shot dead outside the Stockwell Gardens Estate, London.

Adebiyi was reportedly shot as he stood on the pavement in Clapham Road, near Stockwell Tube Station, on May 31.

According to the British Broadcasting Corpora-tion (BBC) report, the police had charged a 19-year-old man, Tadzingwa Gambiza, to court for Adebiyi’s killing and for a fatal ride, by shooting in south London.

Gambiza of Vauxhall, South-West London, is now to face murder charge at Camberwell Green Magist-rates’ Court.

Barely a week after the killing of Adebiyi, another 18-year-old was shot dead in South London in what was described by Sky News as “an apparent gangland attack.”

A Nigerian, Chuka Umunna, who is the Labour Party’s Member of Parliament (MP), repre-senting Streatham, London, areas where the killings occurred, said he had been in “close contact” with the police over the incident.

“My condolences go out to his family and friends. This will have rocked them, and the wider community on the estate, to the core,” Umunna said.
