(NNP) A Nigerian academic from Abatete, Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, Professor Charles Egbu, has become the Vice Chancellor of a UK university, Leeds Trinity University. With his appointment, Professor Egbu has made history as the first black person to lead a major UK university.
Professor Egbu’s appointment as the Chief Executive of the university was predicated on his wide experience in academia. The university founded in 1966, has a student population of almost 10,000 spread over three urban campuses in Leeds, Horsforth and West Yorkshire. Professor Egbu will assume office in November.
