NYSC opens bids for 2011 capital projects

NATIONAL Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has opened 13 bids for the execution of its 2011 capital projects across NYSC orientation camps in the country.

Items bidded for are: Tents, Water-tankers, Generators and Toyota Hillux van.

Speaking during the opening of tenders in Abuja, the Director General of NYSC, Brig-General Maharazu Tsiga told the contractors that there is always a winner or a loser and whosoever loses would always have a next time, adding that the bid will be considered objectively by the evaluation committee in the spirit of openness.

“May I inform all our contractors that, we will not compromise standard. We expect the best only from eventual winners of the bids. May I equally inform that any contractor who fails to meet our set standards will have contracts revoked out rightly and such contractors will be blacklisted”.

“It is equally imperative to draw the attention of all contractors to the need for timely execution of projects. The various projects are of direct benefits to corps members in the orientation camps. Hence, a speedy completion o jobs will lead to a smooth conduct of the orientation programme”. Tsiga warned.

The NYSC Boss represented by the Director of Research, Planning and Statistics, Chief Mike Ejoh advised the contractors to take all things with the spirit of sportsmanship.

Representatives of various companies in their reactions lauded the process. ‘The process is so transparent and there is nothing to grudge about, what is let for us is to go and do our own work. We thank NYSC for maintaining due process”.
