Obasanjo to speak at ILO

Geneva-Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will today participate in a panel discussion on building sustainable societies at the ongoing 100th Session of the International Labour Organisation, ILO, holding in Geneva.
The News Agency of Nigeria correspondent covering the meeting reports that the session is being organised by
‘Club de Madrid’, an independent non-profit organisation composed of 80 democratically elected former presidents and prime ministers from 56 countries.
Obasanjo is a member of the club which, according to the club’s website, constitutes “the world´s largest forum of former Heads of State and Government who have come together to respond to a growing demand for support among leaders in two key areas: democratic leadership and governance; and response to crisis and post-crisis situations”.
The agenda for the discussion is “lessons from the recent crisis for building sustainable and shared societies: Implications for the ILO”.
The session will focus on the recent economic crisis and the way forward in the quest to create decent work globally.
Other panelists include former Ecuadorian President, Mr Osvaldo Hurtado, former Ghanaian president John Kufuor, former Yemeni Prime Minister, Mr. Abdul Karim Al Eryani and former Prime Minister of Netherlands, Mr. Wim Kok.
