Obi funds Ojukwu’s treatment abroad
Anambra, Headlines, Raw Politics, State News Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010
ARRANGEMENTS by the family of ailing former leader of the defunct Biafran Republic, Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, to fly him overseas for further treatment have been completed even as the medical team handling his case at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Enugu, have continued to battle to keep him alive.
A member of the medical team told Vanguard, yesterday, that though they had recorded stability in his health condition, Ojukwu’s health condition had deteriorated again.
Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, accompanied by government officials; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Victor Umeh, and party stalwarts were at the hospital to see things for themselves.
A doctor at the Intensive Care Unit revealed that Obi had to provide the funds when the hospital management informed him that it was one of the challenges hindering Ojukwu’s trip overseas.
The doctor said: “He should be flown out soon. As at this morning, they were still making plans to that effect. The money issue that seemed as a challenge, I heard, has been settled by the Anambra State governor who arrived not too long ago.”
One of Ojukwu’s aide also disclosed that the defunct Biafran leader might be flown out last night or by today barring any last minute setback.wp_posts
