Ogoni Politics: Court fails to accept Interim Management Committee setup by KAGOTE

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt and president over by Hon Justice Turaki on Friday nullified an illegally constituted Interim Committee set up by King Gininwa and KAGOTE on January 4, 2020 to oversee the affairs of MOSOP.
Delivering judgment in the case with Suit No FHR/229/2018 filed by one of the contestants for the presidency of MOSOP,  Barr Nabulobari Nazigha Lue , who was disqualified by the electoral committee headed by Chief Emmanuel Nkala for failing to turn up for screening before the elections, the court threw out the matter for want of jurisdiction.
Barr Nabulobari Nazigha Lue had approached the federal high court to enforce his fundamental human rights. But council to Fegalo Nsuke Barile Uelor and Council to Chief Nkala Dennis Friday had raised objections to the entire process.
The defense councils held that the issue was not that of fundamental human rights and therefore the suit was wrongly instituted. They held that that the claimant should have come by way of originating summons.
Delivering judgement on Friday, the court declined jurisdiction to hear the matter thereby throwing out the entire suit including the caretaker/ Interim Management Committee of MOSOP recommended to the court by King Gininwa and others.
The Gbenemene of Tai, G.N.K. Gininwa and others had approached the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt for an out of court settlement. Without consultations, King Gininwa, King Samuel Nnee, Dr Peter Medee and Chief Taalor Tornwe sent a list headed by Chief Keeper Gbaranor to the court recommending them to be accepted and declared by the court as an interim committee for MOSOP .
However, in disregard for the courts, King Gininwa, Dr Peter Medee who currently serves as a commissioner in Rivers State and a former president of MOSOP Legborsi Pyagbara in connivance with a faction of KAGOTE and some government officials on January 4, 2020 announced the recommended list without waiting for the court to make a pronouncement on the matter thereby attempting to tie the hands of the court to forcefully accept its recommendations for an interim committee.
However, in delivering judgement on Friday, March 6, 2020, Justice Turaki struck out the matter for lack of jurisdiction. The judgement effectively throws out everything including the suggested interim committee of MOSOP recommended which had been presented before the court by King Gininwa, KAGOTE and others.
Meanwhile, president of MOSOP, Fegalo Nsuke on Friday addressed officials of the United States Department of State. Details of the discussions are not clear but may not be too far from the faulty implementation of the Ogoni clean up program. Nsuke is expected to address the press in the United States this week. He will speak on his recent detention and torture as well as other issues affecting the Ogoni people.
