Ojukwu: Nigerians in UK begin Christian rites
Biafra, Headlines, South-East Thursday, January 19th, 2012Nigerians in the United Kingdom (UK) will on Saturday, Jan 21, 2012 begin to pay their last respects to the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who died on November 26 last year.
It is being organized under the auspices of Igbos in the Diaspora with a concelebrated high mass at the biggest catholic cathedral in the United Kingdom, at Westminster.
Another mass for the repose of his soul is slated for January 28, before his remains begin the homeward journey to Nigeria. His eldest son, Chief Debe Ojukwu, who confirmed the development to Daily Sun, disclosed that he would attend the mass, and would leave for London today.
“I will be leaving for London tomorrow (Thursday, January 19) to be physically present at the mass. The organizers extended invitation to me, and I will honour it and return quickly because there is much to do. If there’s need to be there on the 28th for the mass being planned by the National Burial Committee, I will also be there.”
He expressed gratitude to all those who were planning the funeral, adding that it was a reflection of the immense goodwill the late All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) leader commanded while alive.
