In a statement by his Director of Media, Dr. Sanya Awosan, Okupe said to latch onto allegations published online against him and ignore the huge fraud allegation against the Speaker of the ACN-led Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji, was hypocritical.

Okupe denied the allegation that he was being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in relations to a contract in Benue State.

The statement read, “Checks reveal that the whole brouhaha was a calculated attempt to malign the presidential spokesman whose mandate among others is to properly propagate the programmes, achievements and policies of the administration.

“Ikuforiji is still battling allegations of a N7bn fraud. Ikuforiji who had been quizzed by the EFCC, allegedly siphoned N500m running cost through first line charge.”
