Opinion: Persecuting Henry Okah
Headlines, Niger Delta Wednesday, October 31st, 2012It is my conviction that Sabella Abidde wrote the aforementioned piece ostensibly to establish Henry Okah’s innocence of October 1, 2010 bombing incident. Where I have grievance against the Federal Government on the issue, however, is the manner President Goodluck Jonathan hurriedly defended the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, especially when it claimed responsibility for the bombings. In the said Abidde’s write-up, he so much defended Okah as a non violent man yet he founded MEND to encourage other militant groups to unleash mayhem in the Niger Delta region by way of kidnapping and demand for ransom which is now common in the country. Abidde should defend the story going round in media that he planned with his wife to kidnap the envoy of Kenya for his release. He might not be in good terms with other militant leaders like Asari Dokubo.
