PDP Decries Factionalisation in Anambra

The crisis rocking the Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wednesday assumed a new dimension as the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) at a meeting in Abuja, decried the rising factionalisation in the party.
While the party’s NWC called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the allegations of financial impropriety in the accounts of the party in the state, the factional chairman of the state’s chapter of the party, Chief Emma Nweze, yesterday denied being arraigned in court for alleged forgery and stealing of the party’s funds totalling N90 million.

Addressing newsmen at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja, National Vice Chairman (South-east zone of PDP), Mr. Olisa Metu, said: “There are 458 legal matters pending in various Courts in Anambra State  alone.  There are nine court judgments and six factions and 15 chairmen in 11 years. This is the situation in Anambra State, so which of the factions do we obey.”
Metu also said the party has requested the EFCC and ICPC to investigate the allegations of financial impropriety rocking the state chapter of the party, a development which had equally made the police headquarters to order for the transfer of the case to Zone 9, Umuahia, Abia State for proper investigation.

Meanwhile, Nweze who addressed newsmen yesterday in Lagos, over his purported arraignment in court with the PDP’s National Vice Chairman, South-east zone, Chief Olisa Metuh, and one Chief Chuba Egolum, said he was shocked when heard about the news of his arraignment over alleged forgery and stealing of the party’s funds.

“I was shocked this morning to read on page 12 of the Vanguard Newspaper that Metuh, Nweze and others were arraigned over alleged fraud. This story is malicious, wicked and could attract a legal action. As of today, August 17, I am in Lagos recovering from illness. And for this newspaper to carry such an article shows the evil intentions of those behind the sponsored article,” he said.
Continuing, he said: “I will like to seize this opportunity to ask whoever wrote this article to make an immediate withdrawal, otherwise, the matter will be handed over to my lawyer for further action.”
