Rejoinder: Biafra by Other Means: Achebe, Awolowo and the Civil War of 1967-70
Columnists, Headlines, Kunle Ojeleye Wednesday, October 31st, 2012The editor,
Kindly allow me a small space to thank DR. KUNLE OJELEYE for his wonderful contribution on the above subject matter. In fact, he analysed the whole episode without allowing tribal sentiments to becloud his reasoning. As some of elders can honestly conclude, there was more than enough portions of blame for the various leaders in that futile 3 year war. If the principal combatants were a bit older with families at the time, I am sure the situation would have been different. I continue to say it laying all the blame at the foot of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, is unjustified.
As Dr. Kunle Ojeleye vividly pointed out in his memo, what is required now is frank and cordial criticisms of the principals of the war to enable all of us bring CLOSURE TO THE UNFORTUNATE EVENT AT THIS TRYING TIMES OF OUR COUNTRY.
