Reps order FG to investigate murder of Nigerian by German police
Africa & World Politics, Headlines, House, Legislature Thursday, July 28th, 2011The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, adopted a motion which sought to investigate the gruesome murder of a Nigerian, Mrs Christy Schnudeck, nee Omorodion, who was resident in Germany.
To this end, the House directed its Clerk, Mr Sanni Omolori, to liaise with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure that the deceased’s body was returned to Nigeria for burial according to the tradition and customs of her people.
The House resolution was sequel to the motion of urgent national importance brought by the deputy leader, Honourable Leo Ogor, who drew the attention of the House to the murder of Mrs Schnudeck and urged the Federal Government to intervene in the matter.
According to the deputy leader, the German authorities were on the verge of cremating the body of Mrs Schnudeck noting that such move was against the culture of Nigeria.
The House equally adopted its draft legislative calendar for the first half of the first Session of the 7th National Assembly which was inaugurated on June 6.
With the adoption of the calendar, the House will proceed on 32 days annual recess on July 29 and resume on July 12.
