Residents kill four fleeing B’Haram members
Adamawa, Boko Haram, Headlines, State News Monday, January 19th, 2015Residents of Guyuk town in Adamawa State on Monday killed four suspected armed Boko Haram members.
Guyuk, the headquarters of Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State shares border with Borno State.
An eyewitness, Mallam Aminu Buba Usman, in a telephone interview with our correspondent from Guyuk, said, “The Boko Haram members are suspected to be parts of insurgents who had earlier attacked Gombi and found their way through Guyuk.
“The local hunters in the area were alerted to the presence of the insurgents in the area, approaching the gate of the Guyuk town. The hunters ambushed them and killed four of them instantly,” Usman said.
According to him, guns and cartridges were recovered from the insurgents, who were riding two motorcycles.
He stated that the local hunters engaged the insurgents in a fierce gun battle, leading to the death of all the suspects.
The insurgents had, in the late hours of Sunday, attacked Zangola village in Hong Local Government Area and Gombi town.
According to eyewitnesses, the insurgents looted properties worth millions of Naira and burnt shops in Gombi town.
However, the number of casualties in the attack by the insurgents as of the time of writing this report had yet to be known
