Rita Dominic, Eldee To Host 2011 Hip Hop Awards

Award-winning actress Rita Dominic and celebrated Hip Hop artiste eLDee will host the 2011 edition of the Headies (this is the nickname of the Hip Hop gold head).

In its continuing commitment to the promotion and development of urbane music, Smooth Promotions, producers of the Headies’ awards announced on Monday that the reputable performers have signed on to anchor this year’s show.

The selection of the actress and the celebrated musician as masters of ceremonies for the high-profile event can best be described as a ‘‘plus’’ for this year’s edition which organisers have promised would be “a wonderful experience for entertainment enthusiasts in Nigeria”.

It’s the second time a movie personality will be host after actress Dakore Egbuson-Olumide co-hosted alongside Basketmouth in 2008.

Eldee and Rita follow in the footsteps of Darey Art-Alade (2006), D’banj and Tana (2007), Dakore and Basketmouth (2008), Banky W and Kemi Adetiba (2009).

Created by Ayo Animashaun in 2006 as a platform to recognize and celebrate musical talents with the best, the Hip Hop World Awards comes up every year, presenting a total of twenty-two 21-carat gold award plaques to deserving artistes selected from a pool of over 8,000 entries received.

According to a statement released by Animashaun, the CEO of Smooth promotions, on Monday, ‘‘I can exclusively tell you Rita Dominic and Eldee have signed on to host the Headies awards.

We are energised by our choice of hosts,confident with both of them anchoring the show our audience will have fantastic moments and an amazing show”.
